In the multi-channel video installation To the Reader, an elderly woman’s response letter to the municipality is read by three children who are all in the process of learning to read and write. Through this reenactment, a rarely heard voice brings a poetic and disturbing clarity to a complex subject; a possibility to understand the silent struggle of an individual that is submitted to a system that sometimes lacks the capacity to listen. How do we navigate the complex terrain of seeking and providing care?
